Olga's Round Yellow Chicken Egg Tomato
Olga's Round Yellow Tomato
Why I chose it
Yellow and orange tomatoes have become a bit of a fixture in my garden because I love having their colour and flavour right through the tomato season. Olga's Round Yellow caught my attention as another heritage variety to add to that mix — productive golden fruit with a balance of sweetness and a little tartness. I haven't grown this one before, so this season we're finding out together.

In the kitchen
The fruit is dense and juicy with a slightly thicker skin and a sweet-tart flavour. A lovely slicing tomato for sandwiches, salads and platters, particularly mixed with red and darker tomatoes where that golden colour really earns its keep. Seed Savers
In the garden
Originally collected in Russia, this is an open-pollinated heritage tomato producing clusters of medium-sized fruit. Although the plant isn't described as enormous, its indeterminate habit means it will keep growing and setting fruit rather than producing one concentrated crop — one reason it appealed to me for extending the season. Care
Grow in full sun in fertile, well-drained soil. Water consistently as fruit develops and feed during flowering and fruiting. Provide good support and continue tying in new growth as the plant develops. Protect from frost.
What you'll receive
One healthy, established Kellogg's Breakfast tomato seedling grown here at A Garden Between. Plants naturally vary in size and shape and may be supplied in reused nursery pots or growing bags — perfectly useful plastic doesn't need replacing simply because it doesn't match.
