Helipterum Summer Giants- Everlasting Flower

Helipterum Summer Giants- Everlasting Flower

$7.00

Why I grow it
I grow Helipterum because it's useful both in the garden and after you've picked it. ‘Summer Giants’ produces papery, daisy-like flowers on slender stems through summer, and the flowers keep their shape beautifully when dried.

They're easy to tuck through a potager or informal flower planting, and I particularly like plants where cutting flowers doesn't feel like you've robbed the garden — the more you pick, the more useful the plant becomes.

At a glance
Type: Flowering annual
Variety: Summer Giants
Growth: Upright, branching
Flowers: Papery daisy-like flowers in a mix of soft colours
Flowering: Summer
Good for: Cutting, drying and pollinators
Inventory: 8 pots — approximately 2–3 plants per pot

In the garden
Grow in a sunny position amongst other annuals, through a potager or in a cutting garden. The fine stems and papery flowers work particularly well mixed amongst less orderly planting rather than standing in a regimented row.

Regular picking and deadheading will help keep the flowers coming.

For cutting & drying
Use them fresh or cut stems for drying before the flowers become old and tired. Hang small bunches upside down somewhere dry and out of direct sunlight, then use them in dried arrangements later.

Care
Full sun and well-drained soil. Water while establishing and during prolonged dry periods, but avoid constantly wet ground. Pick or deadhead regularly to encourage continued flowering.

What you’ll receive
One pot containing approximately 2–3 established Helipterum ‘Summer Giants’ plants. They can be planted together or gently separated when planting if you'd like to spread them around.

Plants naturally vary in size and shape and may be supplied in reused nursery pots or growing bags — perfectly useful plastic doesn't need replacing simply because it doesn't match.
