Verbascum White Blush
Verbascum ‘White Blush’
Why I grow it
Verbascums are excellent for adding height without taking up much room at ground level. ‘White Blush’ sends up tall flower spikes covered in soft white flowers with just a hint of blush, and works particularly well amongst looser, more informal planting.
At a glance
Type: Flowering perennial
Growth: Basal rosette with tall upright flower stems
Flowers: Soft white to lightly blushed flowers
Flowering: Late spring through summer
Inventory: 8 plants
In the garden
A good plant for mixed borders, cottage gardens and anywhere that needs some vertical height poking up through everything else. The flowers are attractive to bees and other pollinators.
Verbascums can self-seed if they're happy. Leave the flower stems to set seed if you'd like more; cut them off after flowering if you'd rather they didn't make that decision for you.
Care
Best in full sun and well-drained soil. Water while establishing, but once settled they're happier without constantly wet ground. Cut old flower stems back when they've finished, unless you're leaving them for seed.
