Statice / Sea Lavender

Why I grow it
Veronicas are useful, unfussy perennials that flower for a decent stretch without demanding much attention. This one produces upright spikes of blue flowers above neat green foliage and is easy to tuck into gaps amongst other plants.

At a glance
Type: Flowering perennial
Growth: Upright, clump-forming
Flowers: Blue flower spikes
Flowering: Spring through summer
Inventory: 10 plants

In the garden
Good in mixed borders, cottage gardens and pollinator planting. The upright flowers give a bit of structure amongst softer or sprawling plants, and bees are very fond of them.

It works particularly well planted in small groups rather than marooning one plant by itself in a sea of mulch.

Care
Full sun to part shade in reasonably well-drained soil. Water while establishing and during prolonged dry periods. Removing spent flower spikes helps keep the plant tidy and may encourage another flush of flowers.

What you’ll receive
One established blue Veronica plant, ready to plant into the garden.
