Matt's Wild Cherry produces masses of tiny red fruit that are barely bigger than blueberries, but somehow manage to pack in a proper tomato flavour. I love having little tomatoes like this in the garden — partly because they're useful, but mostly because it's almost impossible to walk past the plant without eating a handful.

At a glance

Type: Tiny cherry / currant
Heritage: Yes
Growth: Indeterminate
Fruit: Tiny, round, deep red
Position: Full sun
Support: Support required

In the kitchen

These are made for grazing straight from the plant.
